The Rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Guadalupe Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be also held at Our Lady of Guadalupe on Saturday morning, September 25, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Mrs. Verdugo was born September 26, 1918 in Bakersfield, California and she passed away on September 22, 2004 in Bakersfield. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rafael Verdugo and her son, Jesse Verdugo. She is survived by her son, Ralph Verdugo; son and daughter-in-law, Refugio and Angie Verdugo; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Bertin Rodriguez; daughter-in-law, Debbie Verdugo; sister, Virginia Ortega; 10 grand-children and numerous great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Demesia worked at Joes National Market, Lolas Café, and the Bakersfield Uniform and Supply Co. She enjoyed listening to Mariachi music; it always put a smile on her face. She loved to cook and her love of cooking made her a lot of friends. She was a big, strong lady who was full of life. She had two very special friends: her lifetime neighbor, Delfina Salazar and her close friend, Stella Chavela Montoya. Both Delfina and Chavela loved her dearly. She was known for her outgoing personality and her witty remarks. She was loved by all that knew her and she will be deeply missed.
