In 1936 she temporarily moved to Porterville, California, and after returning to Wisconsin relocated permanently to Bakersfield in 1944. She married William H. Schallock in 1947 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, then located at 20th and C Streets. Bea was an integral member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, with a passion for choir and music. Other interests included fashion design, medicine, travel, golf, sewing, participating in charitable work, archaeology, and reading. Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them. Beatrice passed away on September 20th after complications from a stroke. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Schallock; her sister, Alvera Wenzel and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Schallock. Bea is survived by sisters, Elaine Berry, Bakersfield, Marlene Hill, Lake Geneva, WI; two children, Larry L. Schallock, Bakersfield and Bonnie Faye Johnston, Berkeley; three grandchildren, Nicole M. Johnston, Chico, CA, Elaine N. and William R. Schallock, Bakersfield; niece, Shannon Clarke and grand-niece, Caitlin Clarke, Kingwood, TX; daughter-in-law, Pamela Schallock; son-in-law, Keith Johnston and many nieces and nephews. St. Johns Lutheran Church will hold a memorial service at 4 p.m., Monday, September 27, at Higher Ground Church, 912 New Stine Rd., St. Johns former location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the music or organ fund, St. Johns Lutheran Church, 4500 Buena Vista Rd., 93311.
