Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be on Monday, September 27, 2004, at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at 10 a.m.; both services will be held at St. Thereses Catholic Church in Shafter. Father Thomas ONeill will officiate at the services. Visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Sunday, September 26, 2-8 p.m., and Monday, September 27, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Andres was born February 3, 1906, in Coahuila, Mexico to Rosario and Macedonia Martinez. He moved to Ballinger, Texas, as a young boy and attended the local elementary school. He married Paula Reyes in 1934, and he came to Shafter in 1935. He worked for Handel and Wilson Farms from 1935 to 1972, retiring at the age of 66. He enjoyed listening to music and playing guitar & singing to Nortena songs. Andres was preceded in death by his wife, Paula (5/6/1977); son, Andrew (12/7/2000); granddaughter, Nadine Gutierrez (1975). He is survived by his sons, Reynaldo and wife, Dinora of Shafter, Tony of Bakersfield; daughters, Esperanza Gutierrez and husband, Cayetano, Adela Alvidrez and husband, Richard all of Shafter, Mercy Camarillo and husband, Isaac, Jobie McCay and husband, Jim, Margaret Pacheco and husband, Frank, Olivia Ochoa and husband, Ed, Rosie Painter and husband, Bob all of Bakersfield; brother, Paul Martinez and wife, Ofelia of Bakersfield; 47 grandchildren, 113 great-grandchildren and 33 great- great-grand-children; many other loving family and friends.
