Pierucci Services: Wed., Sept. 28, 2 p.m. On September 23, 2004 Loyd V. Pierucci, 59, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Loyd fought a short, but courageous battle with Lung Cancer. Loyd was born into this world February 8, 1945 in Bakersfield, California. He was the second son of five children. In the Pierucci family, family came first and Loyd carried that philosophy into his own family and life. He proudly served his country from 1964 through 1966 during the Vietnam War. Serving this great country was something Loyd was honored to do, and he often recalled with great fondness his memories of his time with the United States Army. Loyd would meet his soul mate in early 1970, and nine months later became one with the love of his life, Karen. All said it wouldnt work, but they proved them all wrong. This November, they would have celebrated 34 years together. He loved spending time with his family. He loved taking his children to vintage air shows and sharing his love and knowledge of WWII fighter aircraft. He also loved camping with his family. Loyd and his youngest son would spend many hours sitting on the banks of the Kern River catching nothing but fresh air and quiet time! Loyd also passed on his love of golf and politics to his oldest son. They would be known to play 18 and talk the whole day about politics. But Loyds greatest time came late in his life. His two grandsons, Joshua and Hunter immediately stole his heart. Grandpa spent everyday loving, playing, and would even find time to help Josh with his homework. Loyd loved those boys more than life itself. His wife Karen of 33 years survives Loyd. His eldest son, Vince and his wife, Stephine; his youngest son, Joseph and his wife, Sheryl and their two children, Joshua and Hunter. His oldest brother, Paul and his wife, Dorothy Pierucci. His younger sister, Mary and her husband, Benny Allred; his younger brother, Rick Pierucci; and his youngest brother, Nick and his wife, Michelle Pierucci. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and too many friends to name also survive Loyd. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary on the Hill of Valor. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
