Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 30, 2004, at 9:00 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 900 H Street, Bakersfield, California with interment to follow at Union Cemetery. Deno was drafted into the Army in 1944 and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. He later was made Staff Sergeant and was in charge of training a platoon. He was honorably discharged on June 1, 1946. Deno married Betty Tazioli in November of 1944. They started a farming venture in Buttonwillow upon his return from the service. There were three children in the family, Ronald, Paula, and Tina. Some of the happiest days of his life were spent with his grandson, Justin Richards. Other than his family, the loves of his life were hunting and fishing, which he enjoyed until the final days. In his later years, Deno acquired a second family at the Bakersfield Dialysis Center. The family would like to thank the entire staff for all their help and support over the last eight years, especially Dr. Harold Baer, Dr. Hashim Kazmi, surgeon Dr. Donald Loos, and family physician, Dr. Stephen Newbrough. Deno was preceded in death by his parents, Giorgio and Nella Fanucchi; brother, Renato and Anibale (Joe); and son, Ronald. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Betty; daughter, Paula Fanucchi and husband, Pete Elieff; daughter, Tina Richards and husband, Jerry; grandson, Justin Richards; brother- in-law and wife, James and Peggy Tazioli. Pallbearers will be Robert Tazioli, Derek Tazioli, Brian Davis, Charles Fanucchi, Angelo Fanucchi, Roy Belluomini, Lewis Cockrell, Don Toretta and Steve Merlo. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California, 5777 W. Century Blvd., Ste. 1450, Los Angeles, CA 90045 or to a charity of choice.
