Eve met and fell in love with Gerald Van Horn when she was a young girl in grammar school in Ontario. In 1933 they married and moved to the family ranch in the Panama area of Bakersfield. They lived and worked the family ranch for many years before moving to their home in the Panorama area in their retirement years. Throughout her life, Eve was an active member of the community. For many years she was very involved with the Bakersfield Assistance League and with the PTA at Panama School. She had many wonderful longtime friends and could often be found playing bridge with several of them or at one of her birthday club gatherings. She always enjoyed the time that she spent with them. Eve and Gerald traveled extensively once Gerald retired from the dairy business. They spent a great deal of their time in their motor home traveling the United States. Their travels also took them to many wonderful places abroad. They would sometimes travel by themselves, but they often included some of their best friends. They were a social couple and enjoyed sharing life with others. Eve loved her family dearly and was always happiest when she was spending time with them. She and Gerald had a wonderfully loving marriage that touched everyone around them. Theirs was a true love affair. Eve was very involved with her family and we will all remember the wonderful times spent with her. Eve is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Karen Van Horn of Santa Barbara; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Betty Van Horn of Salinas; 8 grandchildren, Jenifer, Hilary, Justin, Wendy, Scott, Heather, Erika and Jeremy; 8 great- grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Zachary, Hannah, Abby, Ethan, Parker and Chloe; brother-in-law, Wayne Van Horn and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
