At a very early age, he and his family moved to the San Joaquin Valley in California where Ed worked in farming, meat cutting and car sales for many years. Ed was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1948. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis Washington where he served as a member of an Honor Guard for approximately a year. Upon discharge from the Army, met his first love, Lavone Flournoy. They were married on July 21, 1950. They had 4 children, Dorothy, Rudy, Judy and Robert. They lived most of their lives in California and they shared 40 years together. Mom passed away in August of 1990. In 1991, Ed married Betty Snow of Wasco, CA. For 10 years, this beautiful woman shared her life and her family with us. She passed away suddenly in January of 2000. Ed married his 3rd wife, Elizabeth, 3 years ago and they moved to Roswell, NM and then they relocated to Lumberton, MS a year ago. He was in the process of moving home when he suffered a severe abdominal aneurysm and an aorta aneurysm and passed away on August 17, 2004, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Ed was preceded in death by his parents (James & Betty); his daughter (Judy); his first two wives (Lavone & Betty); and his brother (Bobby). He is survived by his 3 children and their spouses (Dorothy & Scott Williams, Rudy & Sherri Howell and Robert & Tammy Howell); his two half-brothers and their wives (Jimmy & Hope Johnson and Danny & Martha Johnson); his four grandchildren (Becky, Christi, Cameron and Jacob) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his stepfamilies. Due to circumstances beyond the family's control, we were not allowed to bring our father home to be buried with our mother, but we know he is in Heaven with her and that hes finally happy. Happy 75th Birthday, Dad! We love you. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
