Oct. 5th 10:00 a.m. Robert Lee Williams Sr. was a prominent Buttonwillow businessman and farmer for many years . He was born December 9, 1908 in Garfield, Georgia and passed away peacefully September 29, 2004 in Bakersfield, Ca. Visitation will begin Monday from 4-8p.m.. Services are Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Cain Memorial AME Church, 630 California Ave. The Rev. Norris L. Williams will officiate with interment to follow in Union Cemetery. Mr. Williams was the Ex-Mayor of Buttonwillow and founded the medical center, serving on the board as treasurer. He was an original stockholder of the First Community Bank now known as Westamerica Bank. He served on the Grand Jury and was a member of the Lions Club and The Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Williams was an active member of Cain AME Church serving in various capacities, and was a member of Prince Hall, and San Joaquin Lodge # 11 F & AM. He will be remembered as a loving and caring man dedicated to his family and friends. A gentleman in the truest sense, everyone knew his relationships with people came first. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Emma and is survived by his children; Imogene (Clyde) Campbell of Bakersfield, Ca, Robert L. (La Flora) Williams Jr. of Riverside, Ca, Richard L. (Nancy) Williams of Buttonwillow, Ca, Diane Williams, and Kenneth (Marilyn) Williams all of Bakersfield, Ca, 14 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Alma Bernice Williams, and other relatives & friends.
