Interment to follow at Union Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2004, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., at Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara, 1100 Truxtun Ave. Abraham Cordova Sr. was born to Juan and Luisa Cordova, January 1, 1912, in Coahuila, Mexico. He was the baby of eight children. He passed away peacefully at his home on September 29, 2004 with his family at his bedside. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela, whom he married in 1940. They made Bakersfield their home that same year. Abraham was a very loving and giving Father, Grandfather and Great- Grandfather. He was an accomplished billiards and chess player and a very avid tennis and golf fan. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 25 years and retired in 1972 as an icing dock foreman. Abe enjoyed listening to Mexican music while cooking breakfast, working in his backyard and taking long walks. He especially enjoyed his time with his brothers at the Fraternal Order of Eagles. To cherish his memory, Abe leaves behind his five children, son, Abraham Jr. and his wife, Dolores; daughter, Dolores Cornejo and husband, Frank; son, Richard and wife, Stephanie; son, Mario and wife, Danetta and daughter, Silvia; surviving grandchildren, Shelly and John Woltz, Frank Jr. and Angela Cornejo, Philip Cornejo and Nick Cordova, Brian and Lori Bruckner, Jon and Yvonne Bruckner, DeAvian and Anna Cordova and seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews. The Family is especially grateful to Abes niece, Consuelo Corton. The Family also would like to thank Sandi and Selena of Optimal Hospice and the caregivers and residents of Serenity House. Pallbearers will be Frank and Philip Cornejo, Shelly Woltz, Jose, Luis, Juan and Victor Fierro.
