Potter April 5, 1924 Oct. 1, 2004 Services: Wed., Oct. 6, 11 a.m. Born in Bakersfield, Carl was known by all his friends and co-workers as Potter. His daughters called him Poppy. Our Poppy was a proud veteran of World War II having served twice, once in the United States Navy and once in the United States Marines. He was in good standing with the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union, Local #12. Potter is survived by his loving, caring wife, Maxine for 29 years; his daughters, Denise Martin and Jolene Wise of Las Vegas, Loretta Gardea of Los Angeles and Judy Gardea-Welker of Lopez Island, Washington; and his four grandchidlren. We will miss him dearly. In his youth he loved cars, motorcycles and boats. He would race anything motorized. He loved outdoor sports. He was a founding member of Smokers Inc. In his Golden years, he spent his time doing what he loved the most, traveling and spending time with his wife and doggies. He was a World-Class Fisherman and a Master of RVing. Friendliness was his greatest trademark. He was known by his outgoing personality. Never at a loss for words, he could start a conversation with a stranger and walk away a friend. Our Poppy has now gone home to be with our Lord where he rests in the Shadow of His Wings.
