Irene Westersund

Irene Westersund was received into Christs arms on October 3, 2004 in the 
company of her family. She was born on January 28, 1925 in Alberta, Canada and 
came to California in 1952. 

Irene received her nursing degree in the mid 70s and was a Kern County Public 
Health Nurse until her retirement in 1989. She touched many lives with her 
cheerfulness and compassion. She also shared her time and gifts with peace 
Lutheran Church in Taft for many years. She was a voracious reader and avid 
gardener, with a special knack for cactus. She relocated to Clovis, CA in 2001.

Irene was preceded in death by her grandson, Grant Vid Young and is survived 
by her husband of 59 years, Walter; daughters, Ellen, Shirley, Gloria, and 
son, Glen. She has 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service is planned for Thursday, October 7, at 10:00 a.m., at 
Clovis Community Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Clovis Funeral 
Chapel.
