Morton lost her battle with cancer and went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 3, 2004. Public viewing for Margie Morton will be at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary, 2739 Panama Lane, Wednesday, October 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 7, at 10:00 a.m. followed by graveside interment. Margie is survived by her husband, Walter Morton; son, John Morton; mother and stepfather, Richard and Ofelia Zendejas; sister and brother-in-law, Maricelle and Michael Insalaco; 3 brothers and their wives, Marnel Marlon and Rosemarie and Marvin and Chelo Marcera; mother-in-law, Naydeen Morton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Aida Morton; stepdaughter, grandson and husband, Caryn, Carson and Paul Chalabian; many other loving family members. Margie was born and educated in the Philippines where her love for music began. She traveled to the Republic of Palau and while employed there met Walter and married him. As one of the founding members of Palau Baptist Church, Margie sang and learned to play the guitar. She also sang as a soloist and with the church choir. Margie and Walter lived in Palau since 1994 where Margie was supportive of Walter in their consulting business. Margie, Walter, and John relocated to Bakersfield in May 2003 and joined Valley Baptist Church where Margie became a very active member of the Praise Choir. Margie was a loving mother, wife and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Margie also enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family that will miss her so very much.
