James D Nelson MD

James DeGreef Nelson MD passed away at home on October 5, 2004. Dr. Nelson was 
born on February 10, 1923 in Rochester, Minnesota, to James A. Nelson MD and 
Esther DeGreef Nelson. 

He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His 
internship was taken at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and his residency in 
Urology was completed at UCLA. 

During World War II Dr. Nelson was a Navy Corpsman and during the Korean 
Conflict he was on active duty as a Medical Officer. He began his Urology 
practice in Bakersfield in 1956 and retired in 1985.

Dr. Nelson is survived by his devoted family. His wife, Barbara; his son, 
Thomas D. Nelson DPM and wife, Jean; his daughters, Melinda Lucas and husband, 
Kelly, Jane Tucker and husband, Roger; and his seven grandchildren, Amanda, 
Patrick, and Bridget Lucas, James and Gigi Nelson, and Allie and Maddy Tucker.

Private services will be held at Old Mission San Luis Rey, Oceanside, 
California.
