He was the second child and only son. Bills education was in the schools of NYC and (as he often remarked) the streets of the city. He attended Brooklyn Poly Tech High School and credits them with the basics of education as well as his terrific work ethics. Immediately upon graduation, Bill joined the Navy. He proudly served 3 years of duty as well as 3 years of reserves. He was involved in the Lebanon Crisis and loved to relate his tour of duty in Iceland where he flew as navigator in a P2V in search of Russian Submarines. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary; his daughter, Debbie and husband, Larry Hill; and his youngest son, Daniel. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill. He also leaves two grand-daughters, Melissa Waters & Lindsey Grumbling. Bill and Mary moved to California in 1962. The family moved to Bakersfield in 1968. Bill fulfilled his lifelong dream when in 1971 he opened his own business. Jonas Draperies remained open until his death. His favorite pastimes were golfing and remodeling his home. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bills name to either The Heart Association, The Salvation Army or Alzheimers Research.
