Hernandez. Victor is survived by his loving wife, Lucy Arevalo Hernandez of 11 years; son, Tollan and daughter, Anysia. Victor had 4 brothers and 2 sisters, Joseph, Esperanza, David, Andres, Socorra, and Jesus, along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws and godchildren. As an athletic youth, Victor was active in artistic roller skating winning many awards at local and state competitions and was a national contender for many years. He eventually turned professional and passed his skills on through teaching. He was selected by the United States Amateur Confederation to further his sport at the International level by presenting Artistic Skating throughout South America. Victors dream job was running his own roller rink in Porterville, CA where he trained and played with some of the best roller hockey players in the nation. Some of whom he befriended in South America encouraging them to come to the U.S. to play on his many successful teams. His rink in Porterville is where he would meet his future wife, Lucy. As he began his family, Victor still wanted to teach and share his philosophies with youth as he placed a high value on nurturing and mentoring adolescents from troubled environments. He eventually earned his teaching credentials while also earning a Black Belt in Judo, a sport introduced to him by family mentor and Sacramento instructor, Al Ikemoto. He was a substitute instructor at East Bakersfield High and recently began his first full-time position with Arvin High School enjoying every second of classroom teaching and working with youth. Victors latest endeavors focused on his true love, his family, attempting to spend more time raising his children with his wife, Lucy. His charismatic personality, wit, and caring heart will be missed by countless friends and especially his family who have been blessed by his presence for a time that was far too short for all of us who knew him. Remembrances can be sent to a trust fund established for his childrens education, in care of Bank of America, P.O. Box 11506, Bakersfield, CA 93389, Account #2556701573.
