Bob was born October 14, 1935 in Cardwell, Missouri and passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2004 in Bakersfield. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ruby Paxton, and his nephew, Rodger Spradlin. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Yvonne Paxton; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Lisa Paxton; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and David Hall; 3 grandchildren, Andrew Hall, Allie Hall and Kaitlin Steiber and her husband, Mike; 1 great-granddaughter, Taylor Steiber; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Bob Bridges; nieces, Janice Stewart and Gloria Van Wagner; nephews, Mark Bridges, Phillip Bridges and Craig Copeland and numerous other relatives and many friends. Bob was born in Missouri, raised in Arkansas and came to Bakersfield in the early 1950s. During those years, he enjoyed playing guitar and singing in church groups with his sister and his future bride, Yvonne Copeland. He graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1953. His work ethic started on the farm in Arkansas, working with his dad. They also ran a service station together after coming to Bakersfield. He went on to work for Cornet Stores, Montgomery Ward and then retired from RLW Equipment in 1993. Bob and Yvonne were married on February 2, 1957. Brian was born in 1960 and Laurie came along in 1962. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Bob delighted in spending time with his family camping and fishing. Some of his favorite places were Shaver Lake, the Owens River and Pismo Beach. He was a Boy Scout Troop leader and played on company softball teams. He loved working around the house and no Paxton family home lacked for sidewalks or driveways. In his retirement, Bob grew in his passion for conservative political views. His family and friends looked to him for guidance in voting in the next election. Instead of letting endless medical appointments get him down, Bob would cheer the doctors and staff with his smile or a corny joke. He was known as a man of integrity, kindness and generosity. He will be greatly missed. His family wishes to thank Drs. Martin Berry, Ning Huang, Supratim Banerjee and Mary Grace Megalong and also Dana Kelly and the technicians at the Coumadin Clinic.
