Ruth Lehman
Services: Fri., Oct. 15, 10 a.m.

Ruth Charlotte Lehman, 87, of Delano, California passed away after a long 
illness on October 11, 2004. 

She was born in Kingsburg, California on May 13, 1917. She attended schools in 
Kingsburg going on to Reedley Junior College and graduating from Fresno State 
College with her B.A. and a teaching credential. Ruth began teaching in 
Riverdale, California in a one room schoolhouse. She was later recruited by 
Superintendent Higgenbottom to come to McFarland Elementary District where she 
continued to teach 44 years, teaching several generations of children and 
touching their lives with her special gentleness and love. Ruth retired in 
1983 from education and continued to live in Delano.

Ruth loved to teach and also play bridge and any type of games with her many 
friends. She loved to travel especially to Sweden (her background) and several 
times to Europe and visit relatives in Australia. Southern California was 
another favorite visiting her daughter and family. Ruth was a member of Church 
of Living Savior, McFarland, Delta Kappa Gamma, Vassa, P.E.O., Friends of the 
Library, McFarland Womens Club, Native Daughters, Delano Hospital Auxiliary 
and Retired Teachers Association.

Ruth is survived by daughter, Donna (Mel) Stowell of Chino, CA; granddaughter, 
Jennifer Pai (Kevin) Fontana; grandson, Todd Stowell of Chino, CA; great-
granddaughter, Sophia Donna Pai; great-grandson, Ethan William Pai, Fontana; 
brother, Clarence Hedberg, Kingsburg, CA; sister, Ellen Stenbro of Monterey, 
CA.

Services will be held Friday, October 15, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at Church of the 
Living Savior in McFarland. Pastor Don Brewer officiating.

Contributions may be made to a memorial fund at the church or to the American 
Cancer Society.

Ruth was dearly loved by her family and friends.
