Peggy was born January 16, 1943, in Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of Robert J. and Iona Fitzgerald. Peggy spent most of her career in the oil and gas industry in Ohio, Houston, TX, and throughout California, including Santa Barbra and San Francisco. Peggy was most recently employed as a Paralegal at Occidental of Elk Hills, Inc. in Bakersfield, California. Peggy moved to Santa Barbra in 1977 and lived there until 1981. She then moved to San Francisco where she resided until she moved to Bakersfield in 1991. Peggy obtained her paralegal certificate from the Paralegal program at Saint Marys College and subsequently became a certified legal assistant (CLA)Peggy was a member of the Saint Marys Paralegal Alumni Association, the Kern County Paralegal Association and was active in the Bakersfield community performing pro-bono services. She also participated in Teen Court. Peggy will be remembered for her kind and generous nature and quick wit. She enjoyed celebrating holidays and would get everyone into the spirit by decorating her home and office. She loved dressing up in each holidays theme. Everyone looked forward to enjoying her Dept. 56 Snow Village collection at Christmastime. Peggy enjoyed riding her bicycle with her dog, Chloe, and sharing special times with her sister, Ellen, and her friends, playing cards, and shopping. Peggy is survived by her sister, Ellen Fitzgerald of Santa Barbra. She is also survived by her godsons, Brian & Phillip Martinson, and many friends who will miss her dearly. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2004 at McDermott-Crocket Mortuary,1903 State Street, Santa Barbra, California, with a reception to follow. Friends are invited to a sunrise boat service, Saturday morning, October 23, 2004, to scatter Peggys ashes by sea.
