Garlinger Services: Wed., Oct 20, 1:00 P.M. Marvin R. Garlinger, passed away October 15, 2004 in Oceanside, CA. He was born March 27, 1926 in Bakersfield, CA. Mr. Garlinger joined the U.S. Navy after Pearl Harbor, and served in the Pacific on a minesweeper for over 2 years. He was sent to Hiroshima right after the bomb was dropped. He was a Woodshop/Industrial Arts teacher for Muroc Unified School District in Kern County. He retired in 1987 after 35 years of teaching. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ada Garlinger of Oceanside; 3 children, Bruce Garlinger & wife Denise, Debra Nelson & husband Bill & Brenda Madanat & husband Gabe; 1 brother, Howard Garlinger & 5 grandchildren, Melissa, Michael, Maysoon, Laura & Hope. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary, followed by a Graveside Service at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield.
