Eugene Fanucchi

Eugene Fanucchi entered into the peace of Heaven, October 19, 2004 with his 
family by his side. There will be a Recitation of the Rosary, followed 
immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial, on Friday, October 22, at 10:00 
a.m., at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 900 H St. Interment will follow in 
Union Cemetery, King and Potomac Streets. 

Eugene was born in Bakersfield on December 9, 1924 to Giovanni and Maria 
Fanucchi. He graduated from Kern Union High School (BHS) and went on to serve 
in the Army. Eugene was stationed in the Philippines and Japan during the U.S. 
occupation following WWII. Upon his return from serving his country he married 
the love of his life, Barbara Grassotti, on February 1, 1947. Together they 
lovingly raised four children. Eugene had a strong work ethic, instilling his 
love of farming in his sons who carry on the family farming business Eugene 
and Barbara established.

It is Eugenes compassionate heart that was a gift to his wife and children. He 
truly loved his family and was a pillar of strength when they needed him. It 
is that love and strength that his children will carry with them always.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Giovanni and Maria Fanucchi, son-
in-law, Jim Patrick and his beloved daughter-in-law, Jeanette Fanucchi. 
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Fanucchi; son, Roy 
Fanucchi; son and daughter-in-law, George and Marlene Fanucchi; daughters and 
sons-in-law, Jeanne and Bruce Hamlin and Lisa and Ryon de Pencier all of 
Bakersfield; his grandchildren, Robert Fanucchi and wife, Gina, Stephen 
Fanucchi and wife, Wendy, Jack Harrison and wife, Sara, Suzanne Antongiovanni 
and husband, A.J., Christina Fanucchi, Gino Fanucchi, Jeffrey Patrick, Ashley 
de Pencier, Dominic de Pencier and step-grandchildren, Michael Patrick and 
Aubrey Hamlin; sister, Nancy Romanini; brother and sister-in-law, Angelo and 
Hazel Fanucchi; 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Eugenes grandsons, Robert Fanucchi, Stephen Fanucchi, Jack 
Harrison, Gino Fanucchi, Jeffrey Patrick, and Dominic de Pencier. In lieu of 
flowers donations can be made to the Mercy Hospital Foundation.
