Daniel Wexler Birdwell Jr. was born in Bakersfield, CA on July 24, 1980. His 
short life came to an end in Bakersfield, CA on October 16, 2004. He was the 
third and last child of Daniel Sr. and Nanette Birdwell.

Daniel graduated from Centennial High School in 1999 and joined the U.S. Army 
shortly after. As a child he studied karate and served as an altar boy at St. 
Philip the Apostle Church. As a high school student, Daniel was on the 
football team and played baritone in the marching band. While in the Army, 
Daniel was a military police officer, stationed in South Korea. Shortly after 
his discharge from the military, Daniel was married to Jan and blessed with a 
child. He had a passion for the weather with an uncanny accuracy in 
forecasting. His other joys were caring for his only child, a son, Daniel III, 
reading, cooking and music.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 3 years, Jan; his son, Daniel III; his 
parents, Dan and Nanette; his sister, Melanie and her husband, Roger Dixon; 
his sister, Tanya and her husband, Steven Potter; niece and nephews, Jacob and 
Leslie Dixon and Chance Potter; his Uncle Gus; Aunt Marilyn and cousins, Kyle 
and Emily Reallon, as well as numerous paternal aunts, uncles and cousins.

He spent his childhood playing with his two older sisters, hunting and fishing 
with his Dad, and entertaining his Mom. Daniel was loved by all who knew him 
and will be forever missed.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Daniel on Friday, October 22, 2004, 9:00 
a.m., at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 7100 Stockdale Hwy., Bakersfield, 
California.
