Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 25, 10:00 a.m., at St. Josephs Church with burial to follow at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery. Lupe Calderon was born in Bakersfield, California on May 12, 1916. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army during World War II. On his return from the service he married his sweetheart of many years, Belen (Flores) Calderon. Lupe belonged to several local lodges. He helped organize and secure the financing for the construction of the Juarez Hall that still stands today. Lupe was honored by the members with a plaque placed in the hall as a founding member. He was also a member of the Eda De Oro Lodge, the Eagles, and the American Legion for many years. Lupe enjoyed watching B.C. Football games and going to Dodger Stadium with his family. He worked for Sandstone and Brick as a yard foreman for 38 years. Lupe is survived by his loving wife, Belen Calderon and his three sons, John, Frank, and Ernie Calderon. He is also survived by his brother, Julian Calderon and his sister, Esther Boozer. Lupe is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
