Ruby Marie Steele

Visitation for Ruby Marie Steele will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 
Niles St.) on Sunday evening, October 24, 2004 from 5:00 8:00 p.m. Graveside 
services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery (River Blvd.) on Monday morning, 
October 25, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Daniel Barrett will officiate. 

Ruby was born November 11, 1922 in El Centro, California and she went to be 
with the Lord on October 19, 2004. She is survived by two daughters, Deanna 
Zimmer and Kathy Winans; son and daughter-in-law, John and Kelly Steele; 11 
grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Bob 
Barnett and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Ruby was a long time resident of Bakersfield and for the past 2 years she has 
lived at Rosewood Retirement Center. Early in Rubys career, she worked as a 
Beautician and later she worked for 25 years at Truxtun Manor. Ruby was a B.C. 
Renegade fan for over 50 years. She was an avid NASCAR fan and her favorite 
driver was Jeff Gordon. She enjoyed watching Animal Planet, spending time in 
nature and bird watching. Ruby adored her family and especially her 
grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her two grandsons, Brian Lynch and Eric 
Winans as well as David Prentice, Roger Hillberg, Jon Burkett and Roy
