Jay was born to parents, Charles and Maud Boynton in South Pasadena, California and was a longtime resident of Bakersfield. He attended Bakersfield Union High School, and during school years and beyond he loved boxing and body fitness. He was an avid sports fan and a longtime season ticket holder of the Renegade football games. During WWII he was called to active duty, but was deferred because he and his brother, Les owned and operated Boynton Bros. Tire Company, which was declared as being critical to the war effort. April 29, 1946, Jay married Miriam Newbold Eveleth. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Miriam; three daughters, Sally Ann Kennedy, Patricia B. Thomas and Laurie B. Fahey; grandchildren, Keith Kennedy, Susan Cottam, Janine Smith, Kathleen Pederson, Chelsea, Vanessa and Cassidy Opheim, Jordan Thomas, Vanessa Thomas and André Thomas. Other survivors include sister-in-law, Nadine Boynton; nephw, Butch Boynton; and niece, Lynn Ellen Hahn; as well as great- nephews and nieces. Jays family is especially appreciative of the devoted care given by Armida Pino. Funeral services will be held at Greenlawn Souwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Ln., Friday, October 29, at 1:00 p.m. Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary Funeral Directors Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
