Her husband and daughters were with her when she went to be with the Lord. She was born in Bakersfield, California, as Caroline Blake, where she lived most of her life. She married Kenneth Ray Huckaby on September 1, 1959 at the age of seventeen. Caroline and Ken made a beautiful home together and lovingly raised two daughters. Caroline made her career as a school bus driver trainer. She drove a school bus for many years and became well known and respected all over Kern County as an excellent bus driver trainer. She worked for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools until her retirement in 1997. She is preceded in death by her father, Nelson Blake, her father-in-law, Cecil Huckaby, and her mother-in-law, Thelma Huckaby, all of Bakersfield. Her mother and stepfather, Edith and Tony Ciarrone of Winton, California survive her along with her stepmother, Jackie Blake of Bakersfield. Caroline leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, Kenneth Huckaby, and her two daughters and their husbands, Kennie and Alan Pounds and Toni and Vince Smith. She was extremely close to and loved by her six grandchildren, Jason Crafton, Sunny Crafton, Amylia Pounds, Sandra Bertrand, Shawna Smith, and Chanie Smith and one great-grandchild, Makayla Bertrand. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Winnie Mae and John Pombo; sisters, Kelly Blake and Sonja Blake; and brothers, Hubert Blake and Greg Blake. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She will always be remembered for her impeccable style and grace. She was as beautiful inside as she was outside and because of that she will be deeply missed by all that knew her. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, October 29, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Her cousin, Pastor Dennie Watson will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will take place immediately following the services at Valley Bible Fellowship on East Brundage Lane.
