Robert M. Welch

Bob Welch, a resident of Cherry Valley since 2002, died peacefully at home 
after a brief battle with cancer. He was 74 years old. 

A native Californian, he grew up in Los Angeles and attended Pepperdine 
College, where he met his first wife, Kay. They were married in 1955 and 
settled in the San Gabriel Valley to raise their family.

Bob and Kay retired to Tehachapi in 1996, and Kay passed away in 1998. In 
2000, he married life-long friend, Darlene K. Steele of Banning. They moved to 
Cherry Valley in 2002, where both continued to pursue their mutual interests 
in Kiwanis and Visiting Nurse Association/Hospice.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; daughter, Jennifer Wuebker of Ketchum, 
ID; daughter, Paula Forrest and her husband, Brett of Glendora, CA; son, Donal 
Welch of Tehachapi; and grandsons, Josef Timchenko and John Young. In 
addition, he leaves a host of loved ones, including Charles White, Juan 
DeAnda, and the Savoska, Simpson, and Avalos families. His devoted canine 
companions, Maury and Lucy will also miss him.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday, October 31, 2004, 2:00 p.m., at 
Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave., in Beaumont, CA. In lieu of flowers, 
contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland 
Counties (Banning Office) Hospice Division, at 264 N. Highland Springs, Bldg. 
#4, Banning, CA 92220.
