'John' Alcaras Services: Thurs., Oct. 28, 2:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., for Juan D. (John) Alcaras, 96, who passed away October 25, 2004, at home in Bakersfield with his family at his side. Mr. Alcaras was born on November 23, 1907, in Aparri, Cagayan, Luzon, Philippine Islands. He came to the United States in 1929 and lived most of his life in Arvin, CA. Mr. Alcaras was a U.S. Army combat veteran of World War II, serving under General McArthur in the South Pacific. He was the Valedictorian of his high school class, a past member of the Masons, and an avid teacher of life. After his retirement, Mr. Alcaras enjoyed gardening, reading the Bible, and being with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene and his son, John Dennis. He is survived by his children, Irene Jo Medina, husband, Robert of Yorba Linda, Dr. David Alcaras, wife Natalie of Castaic, Cindy Busby of Bakersfield, Rudolph B. Abril of Bakersfield, Marianne Quillon of Scottsdale, AZ; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. No visitation is scheduled.
