Freda was the oldest of nine children born to Jacob and Emma Spitzer in Menno, South Dakota and moved with her family to Shafter 73 years ago. In 1931, she married Edward Kirschenman and they had three children, Wayne, Patricia and Thelma. She was involved every day, in every way, with her children as they had happy days in Shafter. In 1955, Freda designed their dream house and made it their home on the hill as Bakersfield Country Club was being built. She and Ed enjoyed entertaining family and friends. They hosted many gatherings and welcomed sharing their home. Fredas cooking was a treat and many relished the delicious pies she baked. Freda supported and encouraged her children and grandchildren and delighted in family times together. She was a lifelong member of the Reformed Church and church activities were most important to her. She was one of the first members of Bakersfield Country Club and enjoyed activities there through the years. Freda was a longtime Associate member of the Assistance League and also enjoyed playing bridge with her sisters and lady friends. Several years after Eds death, Freda married William Dumler and they shared and celebrated 25 years of happy times, dedicated to growing old together. Brothers, John and Oscar Spitzer and sisters, Edna Bender, Maggie Goehring and Caroline Merz and stepson, Dan Dumler preceded Freda in death. Freda leaves behind her loving husband, William Dumler; brother, Herbert Spitzer; sisters, Anetta Schaeffer and Aletha Delzer; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Virginia Kirschenman; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Bill Caffee; daughter, Thelma McFarland; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; stepson and daughter-in-law, John and Maxine Dumler; stepson, James Dumler and 2 stepgrandchildren and 5 stepgreat-grandchildren. We will miss dear Freda and treasure many wonderful memories. Were comforted to know she had a good life here on earth and is now at home with the Lord.
