Margarita was educated at Sacred Heart Catholic Convent in Mexico City and she completed her education at the age of 16. She was engaged to General Lazaro Cardenas, a much older person which is not uncommon in foreign country relationships. Her father sent her to Los Angeles, California to stay with her grandmother to diffuse the relationship. And, so started a beautifully romantic relationship when she met a handsome and dashing young Don Hall, Sr. Neither of them speaking each others language, except the language of love, via the Spanish- American Dictionary. True love won out, after a 4-month relationship, they married in Los Angeles in 1929. General Cardenas was elected president of Mexico four years later. They lived in Long Beach until 1939 where their children, Don and Sonya were born. The family moved to Bakersfield where Don became employed in the oil industry. He rose to become sales manager and public relations director of McCollough Oil Co. While raising her children, her thirst for knowledge continued at Bakersfield College and then Interior Decorating at U.C.L.A. Active in the Bakersfield community with the PTA, Red Cross, and an usher with the Womens Club of Bakersfield. Margarita was selected to represent the Kern County Oil Industry in a State Beauty Contest in San Francisco. Known for her natural beauty and fashionable dress, her real beauty was from within a warm and fun-filled personality. Margarita was known as Mamacita. She was well-known for entertaining with their many friends and her delicious Mexican dinners. She enjoyed music, dancing and singing, however, her love of family always came first.
