A celebration of his life will be held at his home in Encinitas on Saturday, November 6, at 1:00 p.m. Douglas Eugene Elliott passed away in Hawaii on October 26, 2004. He was born in Bakersfield, California on August 12, 1946 to Myrtle Fawn Green and Richard Crosson Elliott. Dad met the love of his life, Joyce Lillie Lund, at Bakersfield Junior College in the spring of 1970 after serving in the U.S. Navy. They were married on September 11, 1971. He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1974, and began work at San Diego Gas & Electric, where he worked for 30 years. Doug and Joyce settled in the community of Encinitas, where they raised their two children, Kevin an Chrysta. His hands-on approach to life applied to everything he did, from adding-on to his house to coaching his kids soccer and baseball teams. He was a faithful Padres and Chargers fan, loved the natural beauty of the great outdoors, and enjoyed camping, hiking and reading. In March 2002, he became a wonderful and proud grandfather to Jacob Douglas Elliott. His dry sense of humor, stubbornness and integrity will always be remembered by those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his son, Kevin and wife, Sarah; his daughter, Chrysta; his grandson, Jacob; his brothers, Garner and Jimmy; and his sisters, Barbara, Laverne, Betty, Thelma and Juanita. He will also forever be fondly remembered as a special uncle, cousin, son-in-law, brother-in-law, father-in-law & friend.
