Marcelino will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 6, at 11:00 a.m., in the North Kern District Cemetery in Delano. Marcelino Tugade Dela Cruz, 84 years old, a farmer, rancher, respected government official, and political adviser in Pangasinan, Philippines, joined his Creator on October 17, 2004, in Delano, California. He was born on June 12, 1920 to Isidoro and Ciriaca Tugade Dela Cruz in Bani, Pangasinan, Philippines. He established his own agricultural family business, farming vegetables and breeding cattle. This fostered his lifelong belief in a good work ethic, which was subsequently passed on to his eight children, who went on to attend college despite all odds. He migrated to the United States in the early 1970s, and lived in Virginia and the California cities of Salinas, Bakersfield and Delano. During his lifetime, he had a number of interests and had a good ear for music. He taught himself to play the trumpet, a natural talent he displayed every morning and occasionally in large social gatherings. Always the social butterfly, he demonstrated his love of ballroom dancing on the dance floor; even at home, he listened to tango tracks on his stereo. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Edita Abelon Dela Cruz; children, Brudenil Nil Dela Cruz, Perla and Bernard Dela Cruz, Eudocio Buddy Dela Cruz, Zenaida Zend Dela Cruz, Jesusa Susie and Rodrigo Cantorna, Calvin and Veronica Dela Cruz, Merilin Dela Cruz, Aurora Aurie and Samuel Jawili; grandchildren, Richard and Ruby Dela Cruz, Noel Dela Cruz, Blue, Cysky and Sharon Marders, Michelle and Jimmy Suggs, Mark Dodek, Melissa Sy, Rhisie, Russell and Jarold Cantorna, Monica, Vivian, Kevin and Kenneth Dela Cruz, and Mary Ann Jawili; great-grandchildren, Sachi and Bishop Dela Cruz and Serena Suggs; sisters, Pascuala Natividad, Eustaquia Alon and Salustiana Dela Cruz and loving nephew, Seville Dela Cruz and wife, Rose and their children, Michael, Mitchell, and Michelle; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Marcelino will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Visitations will be held at Delano Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, November 4th from 1 to 8 p.m.; Friday, November 5th from 2 to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, November 6th from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Delano Mortuary Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - no relation to deceased File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ca/kern/obits/gob2543delacruz.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/caobfiles/ File size: 3.2 Kb
