Bill Gene Hayes
Services: Thurs., Nov. 4, 10 a.m.

Billy Gene Hayes was born in Bakersfield, CA to Kelly and Thelma Lamar on 
February 12, 1940 and passed away at his home in Exeter on November 2, 2004 at 
the age of 64. 

Bill was raised in Bakersfield attending schools there. He served in the Coast 
Guard and later the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Bill married Rebecca Walker at Lake 
Tahoe, February 16, 1980 and had moved to Exeter in 1978 working with 
Continental Telephone, which later became Verizon, for 33 years. He had been a 
VIP with the Tulare County Sheriff Dept. and was a member of the American 
Legion Post 94, Exeter.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Hayes of Exeter; his children, Ashley and 
Curtis Hayes all of Exeter; brothers, Sam, Cecil and Charles all of 
Bakersfield.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 4, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., Smith 
Family Chapel, 505 E. Pine St., Exeter with Military Rites to follow at the 
Exeter Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3rd, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chapel. Online
