Skrivanek Services: Friday, Nov. 5, 9:30 a.m. Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., for Roberta C. Skrivanek, 82, who passed away November 1, 2004. Father Ralph Belluomini will officiate. Roberta was born June 8, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois. During World War II, she met a young, New York sailor, George Skrivanek. He asked her if she were a gambling woman, and if so, would she take a chance on him. She was, and she did. They were married April 14, 1944, at the Wee Kirk of the Heather Chapel in Glendale, CA. They celebrated 60 years of marriage. In addition to wife and mother, Roberta had a professional life which included working for the Harlem Globetrotters, Bakersfield Police Department, and Bakersfield Civic Auditorium. After 30 years, she retired as Queen Mother of Harveys Antiques & Gifts. She was a consummate friend to many over her lifetime. Roberta always enjoyed her family. She is survived by her husband, George; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Fred Baugher; daughter, Kathy Brennan; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Ken Weir; son and daughter-in-law, George and Cindy Skrivanek; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and William Andrews and son-in- law, Oliver Brennan. The family wishes to express the deepest appreciation to the staff of Evergreen Health Care Center, Dr. Pat OConnell, and Hoffmann Hospice for the love and care they gave to her and to us. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Robertas memory to the Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus, 2390 Bush St., San Francisco, CA 94115.
