Sullivan Sept. 17, 1930 - Nov. 1, 2004 Services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 124 Columbus Ave., Bakersfield, CA. The Rosary and the Mass of Resurrection will be recited in honor of Frank E. Sullivan who passed away November 1, 2004. Monsignor Michael Braun will officiate assisted by Reverend Father Martin McGagh. Interment will follow immediately after the Mass at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Frank was born on September 17, 1930 in San Francisco to Alice and Frank Sullivan, the third of six children. He led an eventful life including many remarkable accomplishments. His grandparents were original 49ers of California, he was truly a native Californian. Frank grew up in San Francisco attending St. Peters Grammar School, St. Peters High School and University of San Francisco. He excelled in scholastics as well as sports. In 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Around the same time he met future wife, Diane Sullivan, they married on December 28, 1952. After his service in the Army he continued to work for Standard Oil Company in San Francisco. Working for the company gave them the opportunity to live in many interesting places. Frank was chosen as the first White Collar Distributor for Standard Oil. Frank loved the challenge of business, he was a natural born salesman. Frank was a member of Stockdale Country Club, he was an avid golfer and outdoors sportsman. In addition, he was a member of Rio Bravo Country Club, Rotary Club, Elks Club, The Irish Cultural Center in San Francisco and founder of The East Side Sons of St. Patrick. Franks true love in life was his wife and family. He loved his grandchildren and the feeling was mutual. He never missed a birthday, baptism, communion, graduation, you name it he was there. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. We were overwhelmed by the calls we received from Dads numerous friends and family over the last 10 days. Thank you for your support. Pallbearers will be Bob Sullivan, Daren Alexander, Robert Sabovich, Frank Sullivan, Kevin Richard, Timmy Sullivan, Vinny Sullivan, Tom Ryan, Steve Ryan, Bob Ryan, Tom Sullivan and Danny Sullivan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug Finley, Joe Beamon III, Joe Lemucchi, Paul Summers, Dick Barnett and Bob Lynn. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Frank Sullivan; brother, Tom Sullivan; sisters, Anita Tougher, Alice Ryan, and Sister Mary Timothea, Sister of Mercy and principal for St. Lawrence and Guadalupe Schools in Bakersfield, CA. Frank is survived by his brother, Bob and wife, Marianne Sullivan of Liberty Lake, Washington; his loving wife of 52 years, Diane; son, Tim and wife, Jan and their three sons, Frank, Tim and Vinny; daughter, Kathie Richard and her son, Kevin and daughter, Sarah; daughter, Kerrie Sullivan; daughter, Kolleen and husband, Daren Alexander and their daughters, Madison and Gabriela and son, Joseph. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, the Ryans and Sullivans of the San Francisco Bay area and of Liberty lake, Washington. Wed like to thank the ICU staff at Mercy Hospital for their wonderful care for Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Once again geese heading South.
