Chamberlin Services: Tues., Nov. 9, 2 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2004, 2:00 p.m., at St. Ansgars Lutheran Church, 72 E. San Joaquin, Salinas, California. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Bakersfield, California. Waive B. Chamberlin, 89, was born in Medaryville, Indiana on March 28, 1915; she died November 3, 2004, at the Ridge, Salinas, CA. When she was 18, she married a widower with four young children. She raised them as her own. They always called her Mom and said, There are no step-mothers here. She spent her life in service to the Lord and to her church. After the death of her husband, she fulfilled a life-time dream and became a Parish Worker/Lay Associate with the Board of American missions, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She served eighteen congregations in California and Arizona, three of which she helped form. After her retirement, she moved to Salinas to be near her family and worked for J.C. Penney. She was always involved with music and directed many childrens choirs. She also was the founder of Chamberlins Westernaires, a family band and taught piano, as well. Waive was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle G. Chamberlin; children, George L. Dutch Chamberlin, Claire W. Irish Chamberlin, Gwyn Degner and William Bill Chamberlin. She is survived by her son, Ted (Leanne) Chamberlin of Salinas and Donna Worne of Southern California; thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian Byers, Francisville, IN. Visitation begins Monday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA.
