Born September 3, 1921 in Bakersfield, CA to the late Charles Thomas and Matilda Badran Hashim. She is survived by her sisters, Violet H. Hashim of Bakersfield and Rose M. Sarquis of Modesto, CA; sister-in-law, Leona Hashim of Bakersfield; and brother-in- law, Jack Chapman of Madison, CT; nephews, Charles Hashim II (Valerie), Ron Hashim, Mark Hashim (Darisa), Scott Hashim (Loretta), Paul Hashim, John Hashim (Patricia), Ernie Hashim (Barbara), and Michael Hashim, all of Bakersfield, Gregory Sarquis of Modesto, Jon Sarquis (Terri) of Ahwahnee, CA, Jeffrey Chapman (Marsha) of Dublin, CA, John Chapman (Ann) of Bradenton, FL, and Major Jay Chapman (Major Kris) of Harker Heights, TX; and nieces, Karen May (Christopher) of Modesto, Donna Harper of Walnut Creek, Joan Burbank of Bakersfield, Janien McGowan (Scott) of Bakersfield, and Janice Pirrazolli (Ron) of Hamden, CT, Jill Sam (John) of Trumbull, CT; many great-nieces & great-nephews also survive Ms. Hashim. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ernest A. Hashim; sister, Jeanette E. Chapman and brother-in-law, Armen V. Sarquis. Hannah graduated from East Bakersfield High School and worked several years in the family businesses, Hashims Dress Shop and the Mission Dress Shop. She was also employed by Mercy Hospital here. During World War II she amassed 5000 hours as a USO Hostess. In 1956 she moved to San Francisco, initially employed by Livingstons Department Store. She soon began her career with Bank of America working in the BankAmericard Lost and Stolen Division and most recently as Investigator in the Fraud Division. She retired from Bank of America in 1991. For the last 13 years Hannah was a regular volunteer at St. Marys Medical Center through the Auxiliary Gift Shop. Hannah was an active and dedicated member of several San Francisco organizations including the Italian Catholic Federation-Branch 50, Breakfast Club of San Francisco, and Young Ladies Institute. She had been a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Parish for over 40 years and was enjoying her participation in their Seniors Group when she passed. Her family and the many dear friends whose lives she touched will miss Hannahs energy, generosity, and caring nature. Locally, a Memorial Mass will be said for Hannah at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, November 12, 2004, at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 1515 Baker Street, Bakersfield. Mission Family Funeral Home, Bakersfield, is handling funeral and burial arrangements. The graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Josephs Catholic Church, Bakersfield, CA 93305 or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
