Ebbie was born to Otha and Goldie Montgomery on Oct. 1, 1917, in Pottsboro, Texas. As a young woman she patriotically responded to the call of her country and served in the Army as a WAC during World War II. She was awarded three medals, the WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the American Campaign Medal. Recently, she was a guest of her Congressman at the dedication of the memorial in Washington D.C. honoring “Women in Military Service.” Ebbie was a talented and interesting lady. She enjoyed writing poetry and was a member of the National League of American Pen Women Incorporated in Victorville. She was also a charter member of the Victor Valley Piece Corps quilting group. After moving to the Tehachapi area about four years ago, she joined the Tehachapi Mountain Quilter's Guild. Ebbie was very politically active. She was a life member of the Victor Valley Republican Women Federated. She worked on the campaign of a young state assemblyman who later became her son-in-law, Phil Wyman. She was a lady devoted to her children and grandchildren, making each of them a quilt. She greatly valued education, returning to college in her later years and earning an associate's degree in English from Victor Valley Community College at the age of 73. Ebbie is survived by her son, Dr. Daniel Larson and wife Mia of Irvine; daughter, Lynn Wyman and husband Phil of Tehachapi; grandchildren, Jesse Larson, Andrea Wyman Beacom and husband Clinton, Elizabeth Wyman, Bret Larson, David Wyman and Seth Larson; and many nieces and nephews. Dr. Marvin Slifer officiated at the service. Interment followed at Tehachapi Public Cemetery, Eastside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tehachapi Mountain Quilters Guild.
