Viewing will be held Thursday evening, November 11th from 5:30-9:00 p.m. with 
Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara, 1100 Truxtun 
Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday morning, November 12, 
9:00 a.m., at St. Francis Church, 900 H Street, Bakersfield, California. 

Mary was born January 3, 1922 in San Gabriel, CA and passed away peacefully at 
home with her family by her side on November 9, 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ramon Cortez. They 
resided in South San Francisco for 45 years where they raised their family, 
moving to Bakersfield in 1980. Mary is survived by her children, Celia 
Thompson and Michael Cortez; her sister, Beatrice Marquez and brother, Paul 
Martinez; two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to Optimal Hospice for their care especially, Mary and 
Flo, and Mary Lou from A Caring Touch.
