Paul 5/14/1918 11/9/2004 Vern was born May 14, 1918, in Rugby, North Dakota, son of Henry and Ella Paul, and died November 9, 2004 in Bakersfield. He was the youngest of three sons and is survived by the eldest, Cecil Paul of Rugby. He lettered in football and basketball and graduated from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, in 1942. He taught school in Wapaton, ND, until he was drafted in June of 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII at Fort Sill, OK, as a Artillery Instructor and was discharged in March of 1946. He retired from the Reserves in later years as a Lt. Colonel. Vern moved to California in 1950 and began his teaching career in Weldon in 1951. He later transferred to Lakeside School where he taught for the majority of his career and retired while teaching at Bakersfield High School in June 1978. He is survived by his wife, June; his son, Jim Bill (currently of Hardesty, OK); two granddaughters, Stacy Minnie (Bakersfield) and Tamara Paul (Houston, TX); and Stacys children, Garrett, Coby and Logan. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Rugby High School Scholarship Fund, 1123 S. Main, Rugby, ND 58368.
