He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, of 38 years. He is survived by his four daughters, Rebecca Ortega of Auburn, CA, Terri Shaud of Callaway, MD, Lennie Pequeno of Bakersfield, Shellie Santillian of Wasco, his son, Frank Ornelaz II of Wasco, his sons-in-law, Reyes Ortega, Michael Shaud, Martin Pequeno, Fabian Santillian and daughter-in-law, Serina Ornelaz. His grandchildren include: Reyes and Mateo Ortega, Helena Shaud, Martin II and Richard Pequeno, Cheyenne Santillan, Anthony, Athina , Ariana and Alexandra Ornelaz. He will also be missed by his very special friend, Frankie Edwards, of Delano. From the age of two, Frank was raised in Wasco along with his six brothers and two sisters. Frank graduated from Wasco High in 1939. In his early years, Frank was a founding partner of Ornelaz Bros. Farming Company. Franks career included his employment at Barker Bros. Ironworks where he worked for nearly 30 years. Besides working on the many farming projects in the shop and at on- site, some of his other welding projects include the playground equipment at Wascos Barker Park. He, ultimately, formed his own portable welding business where his superior craftsmanship and reliability was evident throughout the farming community. Frank was easily recognized by his signature variety of baseball caps. Anyone who knew Frank, knew his special pastimes included cashews and baseball games. He was an avid gardener always producing a bountiful garden of chili, corn and tomatoes every summer. His deep-pit barbeque was a mouthwatering tradition whether for a family reunion or just summer gatherings. Instead of being home on Saturday night, he could be found kicking up his heels dancing with the Mavericks. He was very proud of his work at the Bakersfield Medical Center to which he was named Volunteer of the Year and received numerous certificates of appreciation. His comedic personality along with favorite jokes could put a smile on anyones face. Frank was always on the go. People were drawn to his warm and sincere personality and he loved playing nickels slots in Laughlin, Nevada. His legacy of always doing the right thing will continue to shape the lives of his family and everyone who knew him. His life will always be remembered, celebrated and loved. Mass of Christian burial service will be held at St. Johns Church in Wasco on Tuesday, November 16, at 10:00 a.m. Dad, Grandpa, Father-in-law We will always love you and hold you close in our hearts forever.
