Meadows 06/25/1957 10/31/2004 Memorial Services will be held at Church of Heartland, 1201 Madison St., Delano on November 18, 2004 at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Tom Gonzales will officiate. John was born on June 25, 1957 at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. He came to California in 1961 when his father was transferred to Edwards Air Force Base. He and his family lived on the base before moving to North Edwards. John attended schools in North Edwards and Boron. Because of his fathers Air Force and Civil Service Careers, he developed a great love for military planes. At Boron High School, he was on the basketball and cross- county teams. After graduation from high school with honors in 1975, he attended Cal State Fullerton. In 1978, he married Ruth Stevens. After working as a machinist and a truck driver for several years, he became an Automotive Service Advisor and Manager. He worked for Sears and several car dealerships in Bakersfield and Delano. He took great pride in his work and many of his customers became friends. He also volunteered at St. Marys School in Delano for several years. He was a sports fan his entire life. He loved his Rams, Lakers, and auto racing. The last 5 years were often difficult as he battled illness. Yet during that time, he took great pride watching his children grow into young adulthood. It gave him much joy to see his daughter start college with the goal of becoming a teacher to deaf children. He was proud of seeing his son graduate from high school and start racing at Mesa Marin. John is preceded in death by his mother, Ann. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Jennifer; his son, Christopher; his father and step- mother, Roy and Lorraine; his brother and wife Robert and Vicki; his twin brother, James; his son-in-law, Arnel Arienda; and many more relatives and friends.
