Ventura was born in Bakersfield, CA on July 14, 1929 to Basilio and Lousia Calvillo. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1946-1949. He was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific and the occupation of Japan. In October of 1950, he married his sweetheart Catalina M. Rodriguez. They had been married for 54 years. He had been employed as a bus driver for the Golden Empire Transit before retiring. He enjoyed working around the house and being involved with his grandchildren in their school activities, such as: football, band, softball, and soccer. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Alan Calvillo; brothers, Henry & Jess Calvillo; and sisters Lupe Cross and Lillian Ochoa. He is survived by his wife, Catalina; daughter Linda and her husband Anecito Damo; sons, Gary and his wife Julie and Fred and his wife Annette; brothers, Frank, Raymond & Steve; and sister, Angie Enriquez. Grandchildren, Brian, Adam, Christy, Sara, Grace, Tony, Sheena, Robert, Samantha, Alyssa, and two great-grandchildren Bailey and Sydney. Pallbearers will be Adam Calvillo, Brian Calvillo, Tony Damo, JR Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, and David Calvillo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Basil Calvillo, William Cross, Gilbert Ochoa, and Louis Ochoa Jr. A viewing and visitation will be held on November 16, 2004 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Greenlawn (River Blvd.). Rosary at St. Josephs Church on Baker St at 7:00 p.m. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Michael Hewitt, Dr. Ricardo Vega and others who helped Ventura during his illness.
