She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Diltz and daughter Carolyn Diltz Wheeler. She is survived by: daughter Colleen Diltz, son Robert Diltz, daughter-in-law Beckie Diltz, granddaughter Michele Diltz, and her sister, Jacqueline Lowrey of Los Angeles, CA. Nancy was born in Selma, California,, on July 23, 1923. She grew up in the Fresno area, and was the daughter of Alice Taylor Melchior also a teacher. She graduated from Fresno High School and Fresno State College. July 1947, Nancy married Robert Diltz. They had three children: Colleen, Carolyn, and Robert. The family moved to Shafter in 1957 and Nancy began her 26 year teaching career with the Richland School District. She was passionate about teaching and all the challenges that went with her profession. Nancy enjoyed gardening, art, and traveling. After retiring from teaching she enrolled in classes at California State Bakersfield to increase her knowledge in gardening and landscaping. She loved sharing her flowers and plants with her friends. She was an active member of TROA, 60+ Club, and Friends of the Shafter Library. Viewing will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 18 at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter. A memorial service will be held on Friday,November 19, 11:00 a.m. at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter. Interment will be on Saturday, November 20, in Fresno at Belmont Memorial Park at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Optimal Hospice of Bakersfield or the Parkinsons Foundation.
