David Lee Barnes Sr.

May 27, 1935 – Nov. 11, 2004

David Lee Barnes Sr. was born in St. Louis, Mo. on May 27, 1935 and passed 
away on Nov. 11 at the age of 69. 

Dave was employed by Cal-Portland Cement Company for 25 years before retiring 
in 1984.

David married Betty Bassler on March 21, 1959 in Tehachapi and raised three 
wonderful children. Anyone who knew Dave knew that his family was the most 
important thing in his life.

David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty; daughter, Mari Patterson of 
Tehachapi; sons, Dave Jr. and wife Debi of San Diego and Randy and wife Cathy 
of Tehachapi; grandchildren, Christopher Barnes, Bruce Barnes and wife Angie, 
Kandace Babcock and husband Ryan, Gaston and Cole Patterson, Tanner Barnes and 
Krislyn Larsen, Lacy Hartenbach and husband Paul, LaDonia Hopkins and Lenny 
Hopkins and wife Frances; sisters, Erma Thomas, Beverly Moon and Carolyn 
Bassler and husband Lee; and his "adopted" brother, Jack Boutwell and wife 
Cathy; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Optimal Hospice, 
4800 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93309, or the charity of choice.

Services will be held at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Wood Family Funeral 
Service in Tehachapi. No visitation is scheduled.
