Wake: Fri., Nov. 19, 7 p.m. 

Mass: Sat., Nov. 20, 9:30 a.m.

A memorial wake will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 
Panama Ln., at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2004 for Leonel Mata, 64, who 
passed away November 15, 2004 after a valiant battle with cancer. Mass of 
Christian Burial will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 7100 
Stockdale, Saturday, November 20, at 9:30 a.m., with graveside services to 
follow at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park.

Leon was born March 15, 1940 in Mission, Texas and resided in Kern County for 
55 years. Leon was involved in numerous business ventures: Kern County 
Equipment Company, CALCO Leasing, 5-Star Ranch and Valle Grande Golf Course. 
One of his greatest pleasures was enjoying a round of golf with his buddies at 
Valle Grande Golf Course.

Leon is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Mary Mata; father, Benjamin 
Mata Sr.; daughter, Patricia Mata-Parada; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and 
Jeannette Mata; grandchildren, Gilbert Parada Jr., Anthony Parada, Nicholas 
Parada, Jared Rudder, Alexandria Mata and Tasha Mata; great-grandchildren, 
Anthony Parada Jr. and Isaac Parada; brothers, Bob Mata and Rick Mata; and 
sisters, Leonor Pinkerton and Rebecca Rohrer.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 19 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
