Briggs Sept. 21, 1930 Oct. 29, 2004 Services will be held at St. Francis Church, 900 H Street, on Wednesday, November 3, at 10:00 a.m. for Thomas B. Briggs, 74, who passed away October 29, 2004, at Shafter Health-Care after three years of health problems. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Ln. & Hwy. 99. Father Craig Harrison will officiate. Thomas was born in Montebello, CA and came to Bakersfield as a young child and lived here the rest of his life. He attended St. Francis School, K.C.U.H. (B.H.S.), and Bakersfield College. Thomas served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He and his brother were Hancock Distributors and operated service stations in Bakersfield and Shafter area, also a car wash on Niles and Baker Streets. Tom was a member of the Rosedale Hwy. Lions Club since the early 1960s. He served as President for 2 years and was a member of the American Legion Post #26. He served on the Rosedale School Board from 1967 to 1975. Tom was an honorary life member of the Rosedale P.T.A. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Margaret Briggs. Tom leaves behind his wife, Marilyn; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Diana Briggs of Lake Forest, CA and Joe and Mary Ann Briggs of Bakersfield; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dave Campau of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Matthew Briggs of Lake Forest, CA, Michael Briggs of Seton-Hall University, S. Orange, NJ, Cody Campau, Casey and Kim Briggs of Bakersfield; brother, C.J. (Jack) Briggs of Santa Maria, CA; sister, Marie Buffalow of San Mateo, CA; good friend, Dick Wetzel and four legged hunting buddy Bud. The family thanks, Salena, Mary, Kathy and Diana of Optimal Hospice and Shafter Health-Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Optimal Hospice, P.O.
