Diana Lea Smith
Sept. 16, 1939-Nov. 16, 2004

Diana Lea Smith passed away on November 16, 2004, in Bakersfield, California. 
Born on September 16, 1939, in Oahu, Hawaii, to parents, Olga and Raymond 
Eldridge, who later had another daughter, Patricia. Diana graduated in 1957, 
from Ocean City High, in Ocean City, New Jersey. Shortly after graduation, she 
married Harry Melvin Swartz and they relocated to California in 1963. She was 
a devoted mother who stayed at home raising her seven children: Harry, 
Michael, Cindy, David, Russell, Linda and Robert. In 1975, she graduated from 
the Bryman School of Nursing and enjoyed working as a nurse for many years. In 
1978, she married her surviving husband, Robert Allen Smith, who had three 
children, Teresa (deceased), Dewayne and Eugene. In her younger years she 
loved to do the hula dance which she learned as a child in Hawaii. Diana was 
gifted in many areas. She loved to sew, do many different crafts, paint, and 
travel. 

She is survived by her mother, one sister, seven children, two stepchildren, 
twenty-three grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many other relatives by 
whom she was deeply loved.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 27, 11:00 a.m., at Praise 
Tabernacle, 3540 L Street. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The 
American Cancer Society.
