Dad was born in Borger, Texas to Louis and Pauline Press who both preceded him in death. Also preceding him was his brother, Chuck Brady, and sister, Bea Brady-Fazendin. Dad is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Pauline of Grover Beach; three children, Robert Press Jr. and wife, Sandy of Bakersfield, Paul Press and wife, Kim of Bakersfield, and Daddys Little Girl Melissa Layshot and husband, Chris of Bakersfield; four special grandchildren, Taylor, Layne, Haylee and Little Big Ben; brother, Jack Brady and wife, Barbara of Bakersfield; several nieces and nephews; close family friend, Dawn Fair; and all of his doggie park buddies. Dad lost his quick two week battle to cancer with his family by his side at the place he loved the most the Central Coast where he spent the last 20 years operating The Video Store on Grand Ave., walking his dogs, helping mom with her birds and making lots of friends. Before moving to the central coast Mom and Dad owned and operated two businesses in Bakersfield, Bobs Oilfield Maintenance and Calico Fuels Inc. Prior to starting his own business, which he was very proud of, he worked very hard for Standard Oil Co. for 16 years. However, he was most proud of his two terms he served for the U.S. Army 327th Infantry as a paratrooper from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1962. Before enlisting in the Army he attended East High School of Bakersfield and later in life worked to receive his high school diploma. Dad always taught his children, Be a Leader, don't ever follow, that way if you make a mistake you can only blame yourself. Dads remains will be released off the coast of Shell Beach where he loved to spend time and as he said, "Everyday I will have visitors".
