Nina Murl Ballard

Nina Murl Ballard, 83, was born to Thomas J. Towell and Mazie M. Fox in Jones, 
Arkansas. Nina worked long and hard for her family in the agricultural 
industry. She was a resident of Kern County for 62 years, including 40 years 
in Shafter. Family was everything worthwhile in life to Nina. She was a 
loving, caring mother to 7 children. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dan Ballard in 1970 and a son, 
Donny D. Ballard in 1995. She is survived by her sons, Danny Lee Ballard and 
his wife, Paulette, Jerry Wayne Ballard, and Terry L. Ballard; daughters, 
Shirley Ann and her husband, Earl Robert Ketchem, Brenda Joyce Dooley, Janice 
Marie Dumler; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Ballard; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-
grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Nina; a sibling of 9 has 3 
surviving sisters, Ardella Linhart, Eula Krahl and Maye Young.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Raju Patel and all the staff at Beverly Manor 
for making a happy, loving home for Nina in her last year.

A private farewell and a celebration of life, attended by her loving family 
was held on Friday, November 26th at Shafter Cemetery.
