William 'Bill' R. Groves
July 5, 1929 November 3, 2004

Bill was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Clyde and Reid Groves, both deceased, 
on July 5, 1929 and passed away on Nov. 3, 2004. The family moved to 
Bakersfield in 1948 and Bill attended East Bakersfield High School, graduating 
in 1949. Bill was an instant hit at EB. The girls loved his southern drawl, 
charm and good looks and the boys were happy to have a gifted football player 
and athlete. 

Bill worked most of his life in the oil fields and loved the years he spent 
doing off-shore drilling. He is survived by his son, Greg; grandson Eric 
Durrett; sister and brother-in-law Clynell and Malcolm Federick; sister Sylvia 
Kirkland and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A family memorial will be held later.
